Okay so this Battlefront 2 cross-platform thing? Man, kept popping up in my head. Got buddies playing on PlayStation, another sworn by his Xbox, me stuck here on PC. Wanted to blast some stormtroopers together, simple. Figured, it’s an EA game, newer ones kinda do it, right? Worth a proper look before telling anyone yes or no. Let’s see what it actually does.

Starting Simple: Checking the Game
First thing, fired up the game itself. Went straight to the multiplayer menu. Searched everywhere – multiplayer options, settings, social tabs. Looked for any obvious “Invite Friends” button that showed different platforms. Nada. Just showed my Origin friends list. Hmph. Okay, maybe it needs enabling somewhere?
Hitting the Settings Menus
Dug deeper into the settings. Audio? Nah. Video? Nope. Gameplay? Nothing jumping out. Account settings? Nope, nope, nope. No switch, no toggle, nothing mentioning “Cross-Play” or “Cross-Platform”. Started feeling less confident. Maybe it’s automatic and I just need to party up?
The Party Test
Alright, time to test for real. Grabbed my phone.
- Called PlayStation Pal: “Hey man, boot up BF2, try to invite me.” He sent an invite through PSN. My PC? Nothing. Zero notifications. Checked Origin in-game overlay. Zip.
- Texted Xbox Mate: “Send me an invite in BF2.” Same deal. Xbox invite floated into the ether, my PC totally oblivious.
- Then I tried inviting them. My Origin friends list? Only showed other PC players. Couldn’t even see their names to send an invite.
This was pretty clear: the different platforms weren’t even seeing each other.
Quick Search Confirmed It
Feeling kinda bummed, I jumped online quick. Not to find guides, just to confirm my experience. Typed in “Battlefront 2 cross platform reddit”. Skimmed a couple posts – everyone saying the same thing I just proved:

- PC plays only with PC.
- PlayStation plays only with PlayStation.
- Xbox plays only with Xbox.
No official notes about it changing either. EA/DICE never flipped that switch for BF2.
Wrap Up & That Annoyance
So yeah, after jumping through the hoops myself, inviting, getting ghosted, inviting and failing… Battlefront 2 is NOT cross-platform. Bummer, big time. Got all excited imagining the chaos with everyone in one lobby. Seems like such a missed chance, especially after dumping time into it lately. Guess my PC buddies and I will stick together, while the console guys do their own thing. Kinda splits the crew. EA really dropped the ball not patching this in later, feels like an obvious win for a game like this.
