Got pumped. Headed straight to film database sites – the ones where actual crew listings get buried in technical credits. Typed those film titles so fast… and nothing. Like legit zero trace. Either the titles were wrong, or spelled wrong, or… maybe she used a different name? Felt super stalled. Took a snack break – needed the carbs to grind.
Next idea hit around midnight: people search tools. Used a free one. Typed “Rosie Shriver,” hoped for a location or relative name. Scrolled through like fifty results – mostly useless matches. But one thing stuck out: A possible old address in Missouri! And a mentioned sister – “Martha Vance.” That was new. Clutch? Maybe.
Hopped onto Facebook, threw in “Martha Vance Missouri.” Found her profile fast – lady in her 60s, looked legit. Photos had an older woman tagged “Mom” – same last name? Could be Rosie’s mom? But Rosie herself was nowhere tagged. Was she estranged? Private? Deceased? Total wall. Couldn’t exactly just message Martha like “hey who’s your sister?” Felt creepy. Dead end again. Sighed hard.
What finally cracked it a tiny bit? Some local Missouri community archive site. Stumbled on scanned newsletters. Searched “Shriver.” Boom! Found a fundraiser newsletter snippet from like 1998 for a “local arts collective.” And there she was:
- “Rosie Shriver” donating camera equipment
- Listed her as “freelance videographer”
- Working under the pseudonym “R. Shreve” sometimes

Still got zero idea about her life story beyond scraps. Like why’d she disappear? Did she keep filming? Is she still out there? Honestly frustrated. Ended up just ranting to my cat about it. This stuff, you chase a name and find… air. Makes you wonder how many people just get erased, y’know?
