This place, Cannon Ridge Golf Club, it’s somethin’ else. I heard folks talkin’ ’bout it, sayin’ it’s a real fancy place to hit that little white ball around. They say it’s one of the best in all of Virginia. So, I thought I’d mosey on down and see what all the fuss is about. It’s right there in Fredericksburg, not far a walk from the hotel down Sanford Dr.
First thing I noticed, this ain’t no regular course. It’s all nice and kept up. Golf Digest, they give it four stars. That’s like sayin’ it’s the best of the best. It’s a top 10 course in the state of Virginia. They got folks there to help ya with your bags and such. Real polite, they are. They sure do their best to keep things movin’ along. Ain’t nobody got time to be waitin’ around all day when they’re itchin’ to play.
Cannon Ridge Golf Course is Pretty
This place, it’s pretty as a picture. Lots of trees, like you’re walkin’ through a forest. And then, bam, it opens up and you see these big open spaces. They call ’em holes, I reckon. And the whole place is green, like a big ol’ carpet. They take good care of it, I tell ya. It’s somethin’ to see.
I heard tell this place used to be where they had them big cannons in the war. You can still see some of ’em up on the ridge, they say. Makes ya think about the old days. History, right there on the golf course. Imagine that! It’s right there in Fredericksburg, VA.

Playin’ at Cannon Ridge Golf Club
Now, I ain’t played in a while, about 9 years or so. But this place, it makes ya wanna get back out there. They got a nice clubhouse, all fancy-like. Feels like you’re somewhere special. They want it to be a real nice place, and they do a good job of it. It’s real upscale, you know?
The course itself, well, it’s in good shape. They keep it nice. Cept them sand traps. They could use a little work, I reckon. But overall, it’s a good place to play. This is an 18-hole golf course, and the people who play here really like it.
They got these little signs, scorecards they call ’em, that tell ya how far you gotta hit the ball and all that. And they tell ya how hard the course is. They even got different places to start from, dependin’ on how good you are. I heard they call them tees.
Is Cannon Ridge Golf Club Worth It?
Now, some folks say it’s a bit pricey. They say it ain’t the best value for your money. I don’t know about all that. It is a bit of a splurge, I suppose. But it is mighty pretty and well taken care of. It’s worth a visit if you ask me. If you’re lookin’ for a place to play golf in Virginia, and you got a little extra money, I reckon it’s worth checking out.
They got all sorts of folks playin’ here. Some are real good, some ain’t so good. But everyone’s havin’ a good time. They’re located on 9000 Celebrate Virginia Pkwy. And that’s the important thing, ain’t it? Enjoyin’ yourself, out in the fresh air, gettin’ some exercise.
