Alright, let me tell you about my day hitting the Asheville Municipal Golf Course. It’s not gonna be some fancy pro-level breakdown, just a regular guy’s experience hacking around.

First off, got up way earlier than I wanted to. You know how it is, gotta beat the crowds, especially on a decent weather day. Grabbed a quick coffee and a stale granola bar – breakfast of champions, right?
Arrived at the course, and it was already buzzing with activity. Paid my green fees, which, honestly, are pretty reasonable for a municipal course. They’ve kept the prices down, which is cool. Got my cart, which was kinda beat up but hey, it works. Checked my tire pressures and took off.
Warmed up a bit at the range. My swing felt like a rusty gate swinging in the wind, but I managed to hit a few decent shots. Trying to focus on keeping my head down and following through, the usual stuff. You know, the things you always forget once you’re actually on the course.
Tee’d off on the first hole, a par 4. Smoked one right into the trees. Perfect start! Punched it out, chunked my next shot, and ended up with a double bogey. Wonderful. Just gotta shake it off, I told myself.
The next few holes were a mixed bag. A few pars, a couple more bogeys, and one truly horrendous triple. My putting was especially atrocious. Three-putting from five feet is not a good look, let me tell ya.

Made the turn and grabbed a hotdog at the halfway house. Classic golf course fare, can’t go wrong. Needed the energy boost, or maybe just the mental break.
The back nine was… well, it was golf. More of the same, really. Some good shots sprinkled in with a whole lot of mediocre ones. I did manage to birdie the 15th, which was a nice surprise. Drove the green on the par 4 and two-putted for the win! Felt like a pro for about five minutes.
Finished the round with a score that I’m not particularly proud of, but hey, I had fun. That’s what matters, right? Besides, it beats sitting at home watching TV.
What I Learned Today:
- My putting needs serious work. Seriously.
- I need to stop trying to kill the ball and just swing smoothly.
- Hotdogs taste better on a golf course.
Overall, Asheville Municipal Golf Course is a solid, no-frills course. It’s not gonna blow you away with its beauty, but it’s a good value and a fun place to play a round. Plus, the people are friendly, and the views of the mountains are pretty nice.

Cleaned my clubs, hopped in the car, and headed home. Already looking forward to the next time I can get out there and torture myself… I mean, enjoy a round of golf.
