YouTube thinks I have ad blocker? Heres how to solve it!

Okay, so, YouTube was being a real pain, constantly telling me I had an ad blocker on when I definitely didn’t. Super annoying, right?

YouTube thinks I have ad blocker? Heres how to solve it!

First thing I did, like anyone would, was check my extensions. Went through Chrome, disabled anything even remotely suspicious. You know, those random “helper” tools you forget you installed? Yeah, those. Still no luck. YouTube was still throwing that “ad blocker detected” message at me.

Next up, I thought maybe it was a caching issue. So I cleared my browser cache and cookies. Everything. Pain in the butt to log back into everything, but I was desperate. Nope, didn’t fix it. YouTube was relentless.

Then, I remembered I had messed around with my DNS settings a while back. Figured maybe something was interfering there. So, I switched back to my default DNS server (the one provided by my ISP). Still nothing. Seriously, YouTube, give me a break!

I started digging around online forums. Saw a few people suggesting it might be my antivirus software. I use Avast, and apparently, it sometimes flags YouTube ads as malicious or something. So, I went into Avast’s settings and added YouTube to the exception list. BINGO! That actually worked. Finally!

So, to recap, here’s what I did:

YouTube thinks I have ad blocker? Heres how to solve it!
  • Checked and disabled browser extensions.
  • Cleared browser cache and cookies.
  • Reset DNS settings to default.
  • Added YouTube as an exception in my antivirus software (Avast).

The last one was the key. Hopefully, this helps someone else dealing with the same frustrating issue. It was driving me nuts!

Pro Tip: Even if you don’t use Avast, check your antivirus software. It might be the culprit!
