A simple guide on how to start fight in nhl 24: Get your opponents dropping gloves now.

Alright, so I spent some time messing around in NHL 24, trying to get the rough stuff going, you know, start a fight. Took a bit of trial and error, but I figured out a pretty reliable way I get it done now.

Finding the Right Moment

First thing I realized is you can’t just start swinging whenever. The game’s gotta be in the right state. What works best for me is right after the whistle blows. Play stops, guys are milling around. That’s prime time.

Another good time is right after laying a big hit on someone, especially a star player. Their teammates don’t like that, and sometimes they’ll come looking for you, or you can nudge them into it.

How I Actually Do It

So, the whistle blows, or I just rocked somebody. Here’s what I do next:

  • I skate my chosen player right up close to an opponent. Doesn’t always work with every player, gotta pick someone who looks ready to go.
  • Then, I give ’em a shove or a little extra bump. Sometimes just skating into them works.
  • Almost immediately, I start pressing the Triangle button (I’m on PlayStation, so it’d be Y on Xbox). You don’t have to mash it like crazy, but press it a couple of times.

You’ll see your player kinda motion towards the other guy, maybe drop the gloves. This is the invitation.

Accepting the Challenge

Now, the other guy has to accept. Usually, if you’ve done it right after a whistle or a big hit, they’re pretty willing. You’ll see them drop their gloves too, and the refs will back off. Sometimes, you might have to press Triangle/Y again when the prompt shows up on screen asking if you want to fight, but often just initiating it is enough if the AI or another player wants to go.

If they don’t accept, well, nothing happens. You just skate away. But using that Triangle/Y button right near an opponent, especially after a stoppage or a heavy check, seems to be the most consistent way I’ve found to actually get the fists flying. It felt a bit clunky at first, but once I got the timing down, it became pretty straightforward.
