Well, let me tell ya, I heard folks talkin’ ’bout that Notre Dame football thing again. 2017, they say. That was a year, I reckon. Time sure does fly when you are having fun, right? That 2017 Notre Dame Fighting Irish, that’s what they call ’em. Fancy name for a bunch of boys playin’ ball, if you ask me. But my grandson, he’s real into it, so I try to keep up. He keeps saying “Notre Dame football schedule 2017” over and over. I think he wants me to buy him somethin’!
They got a whole list of games they played that year. A schedule, they call it. Seems like they played every Saturday, or near enough. My old bones couldn’t handle that, I tell ya! Just thinkin’ ’bout runnin’ around in that heat makes me tired. But these young fellas, they’re built different, I suppose. They just like to play football, especially that Notre Dame Fighting Irish football.
They played a team called Temple, I remember that one. And Georgia, that’s down south, ain’t it? Then somethin’ called Boston College. Not sure where that is. Boston, maybe? And Michigan State, Miami… lots of places. My grandson, he knows all these places. He can point ’em out on a map and everything! Me, I just know where the general store is, and that’s about it. September 2nd, that’s when they played Temple. Then the 9th they played Georgia. Busy boys, these football players. Must get mighty tired, runnin’ around like that all the time. I always think of the Notre Dame football schedule 2017 when he says these dates, you know?

But I’m happy for ’em, these Notre Dame boys. They seem like a good bunch, even if I don’t understand their game. And as long as my grandson is happy, that’s all that matters to me. He can talk about his football all he wants, and I’ll just sit here and listen. Even if I don’t understand a word of it. That’s what grandmas are for, ain’t it?
