Okay, so I’ve been digging into the 2012-2013 Los Angeles Lakers season. You know, the one with all the hype and then… well, we all know how that turned out.
First, I started by gathering all the basic info I could find. Just simple stuff like the roster, game schedule, and the final standings. This gave me a general picture of the whole season.
Team Roster Research
- I checked multiple websites just make sure my information isn’t off base.
- I focused on the key players: Kobe Bryant, obviously, Pau Gasol, Dwight Howard, Steve Nash, and Metta World Peace. That was supposed to be the “super team,” right?
Game by Game
Then, I went game by game. Sounds tedious, I know, but it helped me understand the ups and downs. I wasn’t looking for super in-depth stats, mostly just the final scores and who were the leading scorers in each game.
- I noticed the early struggles right away.
- The coaching change from Mike Brown to Mike D’Antoni,I remember that being a big deal, so I made sure to note when that happened and how the team’s performance shifted.
Injuries Report
Injuries, of course, were a HUGE factor. I made a timeline of all the major injuries, especially to the key players. Nash’s broken leg, Dwight’s shoulder, Kobe’s… well, everything, culminating in the Achilles tear. It’s painful to even relive it!
Playoffs
Finally, I looked at the playoffs. Short and not-so-sweet. Getting swept by the Spurs in the first round. Documented what I could,but frankly, there was a great sadness that I had to overcome.
It was a real rollercoaster, looking back. Lots of promise, lots of drama, and ultimately, a lot of disappointment. Putting all this info together really highlighted how quickly things can change in the NBA, and how even the best-laid plans can go sideways.
