Okay, so I’ve been wanting to mess around with my wedges lately, specifically looking at the Cobra Snakebite. I’ve heard some good things, and honestly, I just like trying new gear. So, here’s how it went down.

Getting Started
First things first, I grabbed a Snakebite wedge. I went with the 56-degree, because that’s my go-to for most shots around the green. I checked out a few different finishes, but ended up with the classic chrome. Just looked clean, you know?
First Impressions
Right away, I noticed the grooves. They’re supposed to be sharper and deeper, or something like that. I’m not gonna pretend I’m some expert on groove technology, but they definitely looked aggressive. The club felt good in my hands, nicely balanced. Nothing crazy, just solid.
Hitting the Range
Of course, I took it straight to the driving range. I started with some short chip shots, just trying to get a feel for it. The ball popped off the face nicely, and I was getting some decent spin. Nothing mind-blowing, but definitely solid.
- Short Chips: Felt good, easy to control.
- Longer Pitches: Consistent distance, good trajectory.
Bunker Play
Next, I headed to the practice bunker. This is where I really wanted to see what this wedge could do. I struggle with consistency in the sand, so I was hoping the Snakebite would help me out.
I spent a good 30 minutes just hitting bunker shots. I tried different stances, different swings, the whole nine yards. I gotta say, I was pretty impressed. The ball came out high and soft, and I was getting pretty good at landing it close to the pin.

It felt way easier to get the ball up and out, and i was getting pretty good stopping power.
On-Course Test
Finally, I took my new testing wedge and took it out on the course for a real round. I used it for pretty much every shot around the green, and even a few longer approach shots.
Overall Thoughts
All in all, I’m pretty happy with this experiment. It’s not some miracle club, but it definitely performs well. The grooves seem to do their job, and the feel is great. The Snakebite is a solid wedge, and it’s earned a spot in my bag.
