Oh, boy, let me tell ya somethin’ about them NASCAR folks and these newfangled electric cars. They’re testin’ ’em out, you see. Heard it on the radio the other day. NASCAR electric car test, they called it. Fancy, huh? Not like the old days, no sir.
Now, them regular NASCAR cars, they got them big ol’ 8-cylinder engines. Big ol’ things, make a whole lotta noise. They go real fast, zoomin’ around that track. Lots of horsepower, they say. Like a whole herd of horses under that hood. They use that special gas, high-performance fuel, and a bunch of computer stuff to make ’em run just right. Too complicated for me, I tell ya.
But these new electric ones? Well, they ain’t got no engine like that. Nope. They got batteries. Big, heavy batteries. Kinda like the one in my old flashlight, but way, way bigger, I reckon. And they don’t make all that racket like the regular cars. More like a hum, I guess. Like a giant bee. Heard one fella say they’re talkin’ about NASCAR electric cars, but not for racin’ yet. Just testin’ ’em now, seein’ how they do.
- Them batteries, they heavy, real heavy.
- Don’t think they can go 500 miles yet, not at them racin’ speeds.
- They sayin’ that these here electric cars are the future.
They say these electric cars are better for the air and all that. Don’t make all that pollution. NASCAR, they got this plan, you see. They wanna make it so they don’t make no pollution at all by, oh, I think it was 2035. Sounds like a long way off to me, but what do I know?
They even got a company helpin’ them, some fancy name, ABB, I think it was. They showed off this new electric race car thing, a prototype they call it. Up in North Carolina, place called Cary. Sounds like a made-up place to me. But what do I know? This NASCAR EV prototype is supposed to be the future, I guess. Time will tell.
These new cars, they got all kinds of fancy stuff on ’em. A splitter on the front, vents on the hood, new skirts on the side. All to make ’em go faster, they say. Cut through the air like a hot knife through butter, I suppose. And somethin’ called a diffuser on the back. Never seen nothin’ like it before. They say it’s gonna be used in NASCAR for the first time. Imagine that! This Next Gen car, as they call it, is somethin’ else.
They’re sayin’ this is the best darn stock car NASCAR ever made. All kinds of new technology in ’em. I don’t understand half of it, to be honest. But it sounds important. They even got tags for it, Know-how and Need to Know, they call them. Fancy words, huh? Must be somethin’ real special.
Now, I don’t know if these electric cars are gonna be as excitin’ as the old ones. Part of the fun is that roar, you know? Like a thunderstorm rollin’ in. But, I guess things gotta change. Nothin’ stays the same forever, as my old grandma used to say. She used to say a lot of things, that woman. Never saw a NASCAR race, though. Didn’t have ’em back in her day, I reckon.
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens with these NASCAR electric car things. Maybe they’ll be fun to watch. Maybe they won’t. But one thing’s for sure, it’s a whole new ball game. Like when they switched from them horse-drawn carriages to them automobiles. A whole new world, it was. And this is a whole new world too, I suppose. Just gotta get used to it, like everything else. They are tryin’ to make sure that they’re not going to hurt the earth. That’s a good thing, I reckon.
I wonder if they’ll make little electric cars for the kids to race around in, like they do now with them little go-karts. That would be somethin’, wouldn’t it? A whole new generation of racers, growin’ up on electric cars. The future is comin’, whether we like it or not. And it looks like it’s gonna be electric. Yep, a NASCAR electric car test is just the beginnin’. Who would have thunk it?
I remember when they first started talking about self driving car. Now look where we are. This NASCAR EV is probably gonna be just like that. They say that change is the only constant. So, I guess we will just have to wait and see what the future holds for NASCAR and these here electric cars.
