Well, let me tell you, I heard some folks talking ’bout the top 100 players in the NBA. Now, I ain’t no expert on this basketball stuff, but I heard some names that even this old lady knows. These young fellas, they sure can run and jump, I tell ya what!
They say this fella, Nikola Jokic, is the best of the bunch. Number one, they say! He must be somethin’ special. Then there’s that Shai somethin’ Alexander. I don’t know how to say these names, but they say he’s right up there too. They use this word, “skill”, a lot. I guess it means they are good at bouncing that ball around. Performance, too, is a big deal for those NBA Player Rankings, that is how they play in the games, I reckon.
I heard ’em talkin’ ’bout a Luka Doncic, sounds like a fancy name, right? And that LeBron James, he’s been around for a while, ain’t he? Still jumpin’ around like a young buck. They say he’s one of the top ones, even though he’s gettin’ up there in years. They rank him and other NBA players in order. They say the rank is how they perform in the coming season. It sounds like a big deal.

These young’ins today, they got all these fancy words for things. “Offensive efficiency,” “defensive efficiency,” I heard ’em say. I reckon it means how good they are at puttin’ the ball in the hoop and stoppin’ the other fellas from doin’ the same. And there are so many players, they talked about 100! I can barely remember 10 names, let alone 100!
They got this list, see, and it’s got all these players on it. They say it’s the top 100 players for next year. 2024-25, they called it. Time sure does fly, don’t it? They even got this fella, Stephen Curry, on there. He’s a little fella, but I hear he can shoot that ball from way out yonder. There was some argument over the order of the names, especially after this Jokic guy.
Now, they was talkin’ about some other fellas too. A fella named Magic Johnson, heard that name before. And Michael Jordan, even I know that name! He must be somethin’, though they say he ain’t playin’ no more. But I saw his name on the list. Then there’s a Kyle Lowry, I think? And some fella named Kawhi Leonard, that’s a mouthful, ain’t it? They say this list is about the best players in the league. I guess that means all over the country.
This one fella, Eddie Jones, and another one, DeAndre Jordan. They got similar names, maybe they’re related? This basketball, it’s a whole different world. They got all these names, like Jason Kidd, Shawn Kemp, and this one fella, his name is long… Andrei Kirilenko. I can’t even say it right, but they say he’s good too. There’s too many names!
And then there was one called Bernard King, and another one, Kyle Korver. Then a Jerome Kersey, a Bob Lanier, and this other one, Damian Lillard. That’s a lot of players, I tell ya. It’s like a whole army of these basketball fellas, all bouncin’ that ball around. I reckon they make a lot of money doin’ it too. This world, it is different than it used to be.
Oh, and they was talkin’ ’bout somethin’ called “power rankings.” Sounds important, don’t it? They say it’s ’bout how good the teams are, not just the players. They take into account, whatever that means, how they been playin’ lately. They use how good the team play on offense and defense to give them some score. So even if you got a good player, if the team ain’t no good, it don’t matter, I guess. That makes sense, like a good apple in a bad bunch.
There was also a Jerry Lucas. It is hard to remember all these names. All these fellas, runnin’ around, jumpin’ up and down. It makes this old lady tired just thinkin’ ’bout it. But I guess it’s a big deal to some folks. They sure do get excited about it. I guess folks need somethin’ to get excited about, right? Anyway, those are the Top 100 Players in the NBA I heard about.
