Well, let me tell you, that Pittsburgh Penguins, they sure do a lot of wheelin’ and dealin’. It’s like a dang flea market with all these players comin’ and goin’. You can hardly keep up with it all!

This one fella, P.O Joseph, they got him from the St. Louis Blues. Don’t know what they gave up for him, just says “future considerations”. Sounds kinda fishy to me. Like they’re tradin’ somethin’ they don’t even have yet. These young folks and their fancy terms.
And the money! Lord have mercy, the money they throw around. Back in my day, a nickel was a fortune. Now they’re talkin’ ’bout millions and millions. Some fella, some big basketball player, paid somethin’ like 900 million for the team. Can you imagine? 900 million! What a waste! I swear, I couldn’t spend that much money if I tried.
They say these Penguins players, they mostly live up in the North Hills. Fancy places like Sewickley and Cranberry. Heard they got big houses and all that. Must be nice. I remember when we were happy just to have a roof over our heads that didn’t leak too much.
And this other thing, they call it “transactions.” Sounds like somethin’ you’d do at the bank. But it’s just them movin’ players around like they’re cattle. They sent some young fella, J. St. Ivany, down to the minors. Poor kid. Then they sent down another one, V. Puustinen. They keep movin’ people around, back and forth. Makes my head spin just thinkin’ about it.
- Dec 3, 2024 – J. St. Ivany, D, Sent to minors Wilkes-Barre/Scranton-AHL
- Nov 27, 2024 – V. Puustinen, RW, Sent to minors Wilkes-Barre/Scranton-AHL
- Nov 26, 2024 – V. Puustinen, RW, Waived
Then there’s this “waived” thing. I don’t rightly know what that means. Sounds kinda rude, if you ask me. Like they’re just throwin’ these fellas away.

They got some guy named Jeff Carter. Cost ’em a couple of draft picks. Don’t even get me started on draft picks. It’s like a whole other language. They talk about first round, second round, third round. Sounds like a dang boxing match, not a hockey game. These Penguins transactions are getting more complicated these days!
And they re-signed some fella named Jonathan Gruden. Gave him a two-year contract. Hope he’s worth it. They sure do give out contracts like they’re candy these days. Used to be, you worked hard, you got paid. Now, they sign these contracts before you even know if a fella can play.
They got all these websites now, you can go on there and see all these Pittsburgh Penguins transactions. It’s all right there in front of you. Back in my day, you had to wait for the newspaper to come out to find out what was goin’ on. Now, you just click a button, and there it is. The world is changing too fast!
They even keep track of how much money they’re payin’ these players. They said they’re keepin’ 25% of some fella named Smith’s salary. Why they would do that, I don’t know. Seems like a lot of fuss over money, if you ask me. These Penguins transactions for the 2024-25 season are wild.
And they got all these rumors flyin’ around. Who’s gettin’ traded, who’s gettin’ signed, who’s gettin’ let go. It’s like a soap opera, I tell ya. You can’t believe half of what you hear. But it sure is entertainin’.

Used to be, you just went to the game, you watched the game, and that was that. Now, it’s all this other stuff. Trades, signings, waivers, contracts. It’s a whole different world. I can not believe there are so many Pittsburgh Penguins transactions.
Well, I guess that’s just the way things are now. These young folks and their fancy ways. Me, I’m just gonna stick to watchin’ the game. That’s the part I understand. All this other stuff, it’s just too much for this old brain to handle. But I tell ya, those Pittsburgh Penguins, they sure do keep things interestin’!
I just hope they know what they’re doin’. All this movin’ and shakin’, it’s gotta be for somethin’, right? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Maybe they’ll win another one of them Stanley Cups. That would be somethin’, wouldn’t it? Then all these Penguins transactions would be worth it.
