Royal Dublin Golf Club Ireland: Heres What You Need to Know Before You Go, From Green Fees to Dress Code

This here place, the Royal Dublin Golf Club, it’s a real fancy place. I hear it’s in Ireland. You know, they got that golf thing there. They hit that little ball around, seems like a lot of work for nothing if you ask me. But they say this place, this Royal Dublin, it’s something special. A real big deal in Ireland.

They say it’s old, like, really old. 1885, someone told me. That’s way before my time! Can you believe it? They been hitting that ball around for that long. And it’s right there on some island, they call it Bull Island. Sounds funny, don’t it? Bull Island. Makes me think of them cows back home. But no cows there, just a golf course. One of the oldest in Ireland, folks say.

And get this, this Bull Island, it ain’t just for golf. They got birds there too. A bird sanctuary, they call it. Imagine that, birds and golf. And some nature stuff, I reckon. Reserves, whatever that means. Sounds peaceful, though. Maybe them golfers need a bit of peace and quiet after all that whacking. This place is perfect for a Dublin Golf Tour. Start your trip here, and you will have good luck!

This island, they say it wasn’t always there. Nope. They built some wall in the sea, long time ago, in the 1800s. And then, poof! Island. Made of sand, they say. Perfect sandy island. Must be nice on the feet. If you like that sort of thing. I prefer solid ground myself. But for golf, I guess sand is good. You can see why this is one of the top courses around Dublin.

This Royal Dublin place, it’s fancy, I tell ya. They even had that Irish Open there. Big tournament, I hear. Lots of important folks come to watch. Must be a sight to see. Good reason to host it here. The course is good, I guess. Challenging, you know? Fast greens, whatever that is.

  • They got history there.
  • And tradition, they say.
  • Golfing tradition.
  • Whatever that means.
  • Must be important to them golfers.

And you gotta dress up, too. No old clothes allowed, not at Royal Dublin Golf Club. They got rules. Collared shirts, they say. And no jeans! Can you imagine? No jeans. And no sweatpants, neither. Gotta look proper, I guess. Like you’re going to church or something. It’s all about looking the part, I suppose. No denim of any color. Not even blue, green, or even pink! They don’t like that.

They got a place to practice, too. They call it “the Garden.” Ain’t that fancy? It’s like a little farm, but for golf. They say it’s championship-standard, but I don’t know about that. It’s got a driving range, they whack the ball there. And a chipping green. And a putting green. And a net, to catch the balls, I suppose. All that just to hit a little ball around. It is a tough challenge, I must say.

They even got a shop there. A Pro Shop. They give advice, and lessons, they say. If you need that kind of thing. And they fix your clubs. And sell you new ones, if you got the money. You can even rent stuff there, I hear. Don’t need to bring your own, I guess. That’s convenient, I suppose. Especially if you’re coming from far away. They say you should come here to see, there is a very warm welcome. I don’t know what that means, but it sounds nice, right?

Some fella named Hawtree, he did some work there. Back in 2006, they said. Made it bigger, I guess. 7,269 yards now, they say. That’s a long way to walk, just to hit a ball. Must be tiring. But them golfers, they love it. I don’t know what is it about golf. People just can’t stop talking about it.

So, there you have it. The Royal Dublin Golf Club. In Ireland. On Bull Island. Old, sandy, and fancy. With birds and rules and a “Garden.” If you like golf, I guess it’s the place to be. Me, I’ll stick to my rocking chair. But you go on and have fun. Just remember your collared shirt!
