Okay, here we go, let’s talk about the 2024 Alabama Stakes.
Man, what a race it was! I’ve been following horse racing for years, and the Alabama Stakes is always a highlight. This year, I decided to really dive in and document my whole experience leading up to the big day.
First off, I started digging into the field. This year, it was stacked with some serious talent. I mean, you had six fillies who were already stakes winners – that’s no joke! I spent hours reading up on their past performances, trying to figure out who had the edge.
- One thing that caught my eye was that Thorpedo Anna, the Kentucky Oaks winner, wasn’t going to be there. She was the favorite in a lot of people’s eyes, so her absence really opened things up.
- Then there was this filly, Intricate, the only one who had ever beaten Thorpedo Anna. That got me thinking she might be a dark horse.
I kept seeing the name Power Squeeze pop up. Apparently, she had beaten another competitor, pretty handily, twice earlier in the year.
The buzz around Saratoga was electric. I saw some folks talking about the Lake Placid Stakes, another big race happening right before the Alabama. A lot of folks were excited about that race too.
Then, the day of the race finally arrived. I watched as Power Squeeze just dominated the track. I mean, she really lived up to her name. It was such a fitting win for the trainer, Jorge Delgado.
Looking back, paying attention to those details was key. Who knew that Power Squeeze would come through like that? And not having Thorpedo Anna in the race definitely changed the game.
All in all, it was an unforgettable Alabama Stakes. I’m already looking forward to next year! Horse racing, man, it’s always full of surprises.
