Okay, so I’ve been meaning to do this for a while, and I finally got around to digging up my old files and notes from the 2017-18 Liverpool season. It was a wild ride, and I wanted to put together my own, like, personal record of it all.
I started out by just, you know, grabbing everything I could find. I scoured the internet for match reports, player stats, even fan forum posts – anything that would help me piece together the story of that season. I had some old notes scribbled in notebooks, too, from watching games live. It was like an archaeological dig, haha.
The Data Dump
- Match Results: I made a huge spreadsheet, listing every single game, the date, the opponent, the score, and the goalscorers. It was a beast, but it gave me the basic framework.
- Player Stats: Then I went deeper, tracking individual player performances – goals, assists, tackles, passes completed, the works. This was trickier, because I had to cross-reference different sources to make sure I got it right.
- My Own Notes: These were the most fun, actually. I found my old matchday notes, filled with my excited (and sometimes frustrated) scribbles. Stuff like “Salah is a god!” and “Why is Karius doing that?!” It really brought back the emotions of the season.
Building the Narrative
Once I had all this raw data, I started trying to make sense of it. I didn’t just want a list of stats; I wanted to remember the feeling of that season. So, I began organizing things chronologically, game by game.
I used my notes, and add to that what I find from multiple sources of statistics data.
I slowly remembered about the matches one by one.
I highlighted key moments – that amazing Salah goal against, I think, Everton? The crazy Champions League run. The frustrating draws that cost us points in the league. I tried to capture the ups and downs, the excitement and the heartbreak.
The Final Product
It’s still a work in progress, honestly. It’s this big, sprawling document, filled with stats, my own ramblings, and memories. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine. It’s my personal record of that incredible 2017-18 Liverpool season, and it’s something I can look back on and, like, relive it all over again. I might even clean it up and share it with some fellow Reds someday. We’ll see!
