Okay, let’s talk about my experience with the 2009 CBR1000RR Fireblade. I’ve been eyeing this bike for a while, and last month I finally pulled the trigger and got one. It wasn’t brand new, obviously, since it’s a 2009 model, but it was in pretty good shape.

The first thing I did was search around for a decent deal. I checked out a few dealerships and also looked online. I even checked the Kelley Blue Book to get an idea of the trade-in value and typical listing price. Found one in Donington with 21080 miles on it, which seemed reasonable. However, the one I ended up buying had only 9626 miles, and it looked almost new! So that was a big win for me.
After getting the bike, the next step was to give it a thorough check. I mean, it’s a used bike, so you gotta make sure everything is in order. Checked the engine, brakes, tires, the whole nine yards. Found out this model has C-ABS, which is pretty cool for fast riding. I did hear some rumors about these bikes burning oil, but mine seemed fine.
One thing I learned is that dealerships often list bikes as standard models, even if they have lots of upgrades. Mine came with a few extras that weren’t mentioned in the listing, which was a nice surprise.
Next, I started riding it regularly. It’s mainly for my daily commute, but I also take it out for longer rides on the weekends. I’ve been keeping track of the fuel consumption. It’s pretty good on gas for a 1000cc bike. Based on my calculations, it averages around 36 MPG. This could vary, of course, depending on how you ride.
I also made sure to keep up with maintenance. I read somewhere that these engines can last up to 100k miles if you take care of them. So, I’ve been pretty religious about oil changes and other routine checks.

Overall, I’m really happy with my 2009 CBR1000RR Fireblade. It’s a solid bike, handles well, and is surprisingly fuel-efficient. I am glad that I checked the average fuel consumption and mileage, they are reasonable and the maintenance is not expensive. If you’re thinking about getting one, I’d say go for it. Just make sure to do your homework and check it thoroughly before buying.
- Check mileage: Lower mileage is generally better.
- Inspect thoroughly: Look for any signs of wear and tear.
- Fuel efficiency: Expect around 36 MPG on average.
- Maintenance: Regular upkeep can extend the engine’s life.
That’s my experience with the 2009 CBR1000RR Fireblade so far. It’s been a great ride, and I’m looking forward to many more miles with this beast!
